Beach Photography – Composition and Lighting

95.00

On Saturday, March 19, 2022, the beach photography workshop will take place and we will go "beachcombing" to capture the most beautiful parts of this dynamic and photogenic landscape. Due to the dynamics of nature in the coast and dune region, it is hardly possible to imagine more variation during this inspiring workshop. The light changes every 5 minutes and the influence of wind, sun, clouds, ebb, flood and shifting dunes makes the landscape change again and again.
During this photo workshop we will shoot wide. So you can get started with both your regular lenses and your extreme wide-angle lens or macro lens. The subjects in Meijendel and on the beach are endless; Drifting dunes, dynamic skies, rolling surf, carpets of shells, marram grass and structures in the sand. The workshop lends itself perfectly to a half-day of beachcombing with our cameras. We will have to be careful not to stay in one place because there is so much to photograph!
In other words, a fantastic environment for us photographers!

Beach photography

Part of this workshop is a walk through one of my favorite coastal areas; the dunes of Meijendel. The 2 km walk to the beach leads us along the varied landscape of the coastal strip. During this walk we will discuss the unique features of this dune area and we will stop occasionally to take some images that will add to the story of the day.

We will be on the beach well before sunset. The "reading" of the light plays an important role in this workshop and the dynamics of this during a sunset are extremely suitable to get started with this in practice.

In addition to the technique of landscape photography, we also extensively discuss the artistic side of beach photography; how does the choice of your subject come about and how do you approach this from a photo-technical point of view? In addition, we will work with gray and / or gray gradient filters. If you don't have any gray gradient filters yet, I can provide a loan set from NiSi.

The workshop is suitable for photographers of all levels and, in addition to the technical side of photography, we will also discuss the art of looking. The composition and your point of view in relation to your subject is often the basis for a less or more successful photo.
Please note that we have a bit of a walk to and from the beach; afterwards we will have walked about 5 kilometers.

Program:

After a short introduction while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea with a savory snack, we leave for the coast from the parking lot of the De Tapuit visitor center. Prior to this photo workshop I will have visited the area a few times and based on my experiences I will determine the final route. We focus on good technique, tight compositions and for the advanced photographers we will work with creativity to make special photos of everyday subjects.
