In a small group of only 6 participants, we will challenge you this day to push your photographic limits. After the welcome with coffee/tea and something tasty, the first briefing follows in the port of Scheveningen. You will be given 3 assignments that you must complete within the set time. These are all assignments that you can accomplish with a regular camera with a wide-angle lens and/or short telephoto zoom. You are challenged to look carefully at your surroundings, determine your position for the best composition and choose the most suitable settings for your aperture and exposure.

For the second part we travel to a more natural environment; De Horsten estate. In this area you will receive two new assignments and their explanation. A macro lens in your bag gives you more options, but is not necessary.

Last but not least; we end the day on the beach of the Wassenaar Battle for the last two assignments. If you have filters at your disposal, they may be useful, but they are not necessary for carrying out the assignments.

After dinner you will have 30 minutes to hand over your selection of 7 images to Mike. Do you have your own laptop? Then take this with you to make the selection. Post-processing is not permitted! This will be followed by a joint discussion. No points are awarded, the goal of this day is for everyone to be a winner!

11am - 1pm; 3 Assignments in and around the port of Scheveningen
1:00 PM - 1:30 PM; Relocation to De Horsten Estate
1:30 PM - 3:00 PM; 2 Assignments on the Horsten estate
3:00 PM - 3:30 PM; Transfer to the beach of Wassenaar
3:30 PM - 5:00 PM; 2 Assignments on the beach of Wassenaar
5:00 PM - 7:00 PM; Transfer to the workshop space in Voorschoten, dinner (included) and selection of images
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM; Discussion of the total 42 images and post-processing tips

Intensive support

What comes first at Photo United is enjoying your surroundings, being inspired by our subjects and each other, but also having fun with our beautiful hobby; photography. The student is expected to have a pro-active attitude, so that there is good interaction between the student and workshop leader and the group as a whole. This way you get the best return from this exciting photo evening at one of the most varied stretches of beach in the Netherlands.
