Sirui 100mm filter holder NDH100 (version II)

In April of this year I made no secret of my enthusiasm for the Sirui 100mm filter system. That article, which also extensively discusses the tests of the optical quality of the accompanying 100mm filters, is HERE to read.

In this post I would like to talk briefly about the basis of this kit, the NDH100 holder with its supplied polarization filter.

The complete filter holder kit (SIRUI Filter Holder V2 – NDH100) now consists of:

  • Filter Holder (100mm) x 1 piece
  • Adapter Ring (for the 82mm filter to a 67mm lens) x 1 piece
  • Adapter Ring (for the 82mm filter to a 72mm lens) x 1 piece
  • Adapter Ring (for the 82mm filter to a 77mm lens) x 1 piece
  • The CPL (Circular Polizing) Filter of 82mm, which can be used at the same time as the rectangular filters.

The completely new design now provides a more stable and versatile filter holder that:

  • Suitable for all wide-angle lenses with filter diameters up to 82mm.
  • Has an aluminum base that makes for a lightweight holder that is extremely strong.
  • Can be used in combination with Sirui 100x100mm and 100x150mm rectangular filters and other rectangular filters with a thickness of 2mm

The improvements to the Sirui NDH100

  • The Sirui filter holder comes standard with 3 slots for your rectangular filters. Many other manufacturers only supply two and if you want to install a third filter, you will have to order this extra slot. Sirui even goes one step further… do you rarely use three slots or do you want to reduce the risk of vignetting? An Allen key with 4 screws is included so that you can immediately adjust it to a thinner 2-slot filter. Smart!
  • The previous version had a click system to rotate your filters relative to your horizon, so you could occasionally work a few yards out of plumb. This version rotates completely steplessly around your lens so that this problem has been solved in version 2.
  • The CPL filter was first rotated by means of a disc on top of the holder, in this version it has been moved to the side and because the mechanism has become smaller, the entire filter holder is also somewhat thinner. The side placement is more convenient for me because of its placement near my camera's shutter button.
  • Just like the previous version, the holder is of course equipped with strips that prevent the leakage of light. Quality is in the details!
  • The double closure to attach the holder for your filters to your adapter ring has now been changed to a single closure. By using a metal pin I think this makes it a lot easier to use with gloves on.

I think that with the V2 version Sirui has tackled all the points for improvement very well and a product is a very interesting option for those who are still looking for a professional and affordable filter set.
